This week, Hurricane Helene unleashed its fury on Florida’s Gulf Coast, with the small town of Steinhatchee among the hardest hit. The town faced a devastating 10-foot storm surge and winds reaching 140 mph.

The majority of Steinhatchee's 500 residents evacuated, only to return to scenes of widespread destruction to their homes and businesses.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Donna Landon, whose mobile home on the outskirts of town was completely destroyed.
